How Offline News Broadcasts Work
FreeWave's pipeline transforms verified editorial content into offline-accessible broadcasts through a five-step process designed for safety and reliability.
Step 1: Editorial Approval
Content is reviewed and approved by authorized editors before entering the broadcast pipeline. This human gate prevents unverified information from being distributed.
Step 2: Cryptographic Signing
Approved content is bundled and signed with the publisher's private key. The signature proves authenticity and detects any tampering.
Step 3: QR Video Encoding
The signed bundle is encoded into QR video frames optimized for scanning from screens at various distances and lighting conditions.
Step 4: Distribution
The QR video is distributed via TV broadcast, satellite feed, public screens, USB drives, or any visual channel available in the target area.
Step 5: Scan, Verify, Read Offline
Users scan the broadcast with the FreeWave app. The app verifies the cryptographic signature against pinned trusted keys, then stores content for offline reading.
